If you read my last post I gave you a glimpse into my personal love for makeup story, but I would like to dedicate a separate post to my inspiration to makeup artistry. While I was living in Santa Barbara I found the book that opened my eyes to makeup as a form or art. I found Kevyn Aucoin's book "Making Faces" at a yard sale in Isla Vista for one dollar (yeah $1!!) and I fell in love.
I consider this book an essential item in a MUA's kit. Why because since I began enrolling in different workshops and classes, there is always some pages from "Making Faces" handed it out to us as part of the class materials. The first half of the book covers everything from skin care and preparation, the facial structure to shading and highlighting. The second half of the book is a series of celebrity photographs in which Kevyn Aucoin works his magic and transforms them into a classic icon of the past.
